    Not quite. The consistency in this is limiting government power. Don’t empower the government to carry out death sentences. Don’t empower the government to restrict abortion rights. The appeals process takes so long that it generally makes death sentences moot anyway. The one upside is that psychopathic killers tend to plead guilty to ironically avoid getting a death sentence themselves.
