US Inflation 1790-2015

Catherine Mulbrandon over at Visualizing Economics provides the attached graph showing the US inflation rate from 1790-2015.  She blames inflation on the Federal Reserve Bank. Perhaps she is right.  However, the USA effectively abandoned the gold standard in 1933 and completely severed the link between the dollar and gold in 1971.
