Gingrich: Exec. Order on Immigration Is Inconvenient, But Terror Victims Were ‘Inconvenienced’

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich in an interview on “Hannity” Tuesday night defended President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration that temporarily halts the flow of refugees and visitors to the U.S. from seven Middle Eastern and African countries with connections to terrorism.

He said that while the action may be an inconvenience to some, the U.S. has a right and a duty to protect its citizens.

“You now have a president who really takes seriously the tremendous threat of international terrorism and who is prepared to take steps that are very tough-minded and that are going to inconvenience some people,” said Gingrich.

“But let’s be clear: The people in the Orlando nightclub who were killed? They were pretty inconvenienced. The people in San Bernardino who were killed at the Christmas party? They were pretty inconvenienced. The people in Berlin who were killed when a truck went into a Christmas market? They were pretty inconvenienced,” he said.
