Unenthusiastic

Needless to say, I’m unenthusiastic about the presidential election results.

I was unenthusiastic about Trump (and didn’t vote for him). I was less enthusiastic about Hillary (is that even possible?).

But I’m hopeful about the results.

The Republicans hold the majority in the Senate, the House, and now the Presidency. Normally this is a very bad thing (think George W. Bush’s regime).

This time, however, it may be a good thing. We have Senators and Representatives who hate the new President. And the feeling is mutual on his part. This could lead to some real gridlock, real checks-and-balances, and real presidential vetoes. This could lead to our government running the way it was intended — with each branch keeping the other two in check.

Time will tell.
