In case you are unfamiliar, Washington State police are not allowed to pursue criminals. They can just keep driving away and get away.
Pullman Police are looking for a fugitive who failed to pull over for an officer Monday morning.
An officer tried to pull over 32 year old Guillermo Gerena of Pullman on South Grand Avenue around 8:00. Gerena failed to stop and officers were forced to let him go due to the restrictions on police pursuits approved by the Washington Legislature last year.
Police believe Gerena initially fled to the College Hill area. He is wanted on a Whitman County arrest warrant stemming from a domestic violence case.
Gerena was driving a white Toyota Prius with Montana license plates. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the PPD.
