Did your lights flicker in Moscow this morning? Ours did. Here’s why.
The power is out in Garfield, Palouse, Potlatch, and Viola. About 1,300 Avista Utilities customers are without power in those communities. Crews are hoping to get the power back on around Noon today. Avista is reporting that the cause of the outage is under investigation. The outage may be related to a car accident on State Route 272 from earlier this morning. Whitman County Fire District 4 Volunteers out of Palouse responded to a report that a car had crashed into a power pole.
UPDATE: The total number of customers affecting by the outage is around 4,200. The outage involves Avista Utilities, Clearwater Power and Inland Power and Light.
UPDATE: About 400 Inland Power and Light customers are without power as well. Most of those customers are West of Pullman.
UPDATE: Clearwater Power is reporting that the outage is also affecting their customers. Clearwater Power customers in Deary, Princeton, Harvard, and Farmington are without electricity. Clearwater Power reports that its crews and Avista crews are actively patrolling their lines. There is no estimate from Clearwater Power when their electricity will be restored.
