Moscow Police seek public’s help in identifying rape suspect

Moscow Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly raped a woman inside her apartment near the University of Idaho campus. The sexual assault reportedly occurred in the late afternoon on Tuesday, July 3rd.

A college aged woman told officers that she was unlocking her front door from a common hallway in her apartment building in the Lauder Avenue area when the attack started. A man in the hallway allegedly forced her into her apartment, raped her and left. The victim doesn’t know the man. A composite sketch of the suspect has been released by Moscow Police. He is described as a white male about 5′ 7” and 240 pounds. A weapon wasn’t used in the alleged attack.

The victim went to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow to undergo a rape examination. Detectives are now awaiting for the return of any physical evidence from the Idaho State Crime Lab. Officers will be canvassing the area with the sketch to see if anyone recognizes the suspect. Anyone with information about this man is asked to contact the Moscow PD.

The Moscow Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in an ongoing sexual assault case.

In early July, police say a woman in Moscow was unlocking the door to her apartment when a man, also in the hallway of the apartment complex, pushed her inside the apartment and into her bedroom.

Once in the bedroom, the man sexually assaulted her, the woman told police.
 
The alleged attacker was a white male with light brown hair. He was said to be about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed an estimated 240 pounds, wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

Moscow Police Chief called the attack “a crime of opportunity.”
