US Oil Production

The latest forecast from the EIA for crude oil production through April for America’s Big 3 Oil Fields: No. 1 Permian Basin in West Texas, No. 2 Eagle Ford Shale in South-Central Texas and No. 3 Bakken Region in North Dakota. Together, those three most prolific US oil fields will produce 5.71 million barrels per day next month, which is 26% above production in April of last year, and twice the output at the end of 2012, just slightly more than five years ago! If those three oil fields were a separate country, it would be the world’s third largest oil producer behind only Russia and Saudi Arabia.
