Corn

Via AEI:

According to USDA data the average corn yield this at of 181.3 bushels per acre will set a new record high. It’s also interesting to note that the US corn yield was flat from 1866 to 1950 at about 27 bushels per acre, and has increased nearly seven-fold between the early 1950s and today, due to improvements in crop and soil management, irrigation, plant genetics and hybrid seeds, weed/insect control, fertilization, etc. For 2018, the five states with the highest corn yields are Illinois (214 bushels/acre), Iowa (206), Nebraska (198), Indiana (192), all new record highs for those states, and Minnesota (191).
