University of Idaho football player charged with DUI

Boston Jante

A University of Idaho wide receiver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and cited on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and an open container shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday on South Jackson Street in Moscow, according to the Latah County Sheriff’s Office.

Jante Boston, 20, pleaded not guilty to the three misdemeanor charges Monday in Latah County Magistrate Court, according to the Idaho Repository.

Latah County Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson said Boston’s blood alcohol content registered above the legal limit of 0.08 in the three Breathalyzer samples taken – 0.218, 0.189 and 0.198.

“Jante’s behavior is inexcusable and disappointing,” said head coach Paul Petrino in a statement. “As a team, we discuss the dangers and ramifications of drinking and driving on a regular basis. Jante will face severe consequences both legally and internally and has cost himself the opportunity to play a full season.”

Boston’s bond was posted, so he is no longer in Latah County Jail. A pretrial conference for Boston is set for Feb. 6.

Mike Walsh, UI assistant athletic director/communications, said Boston primarily played wide receiver but also spent time as a defensive back.
Boston, of Jacksonville, Fla., will be a redshirt junior in the fall, Walsh said.
