Here are two different stories in a handful of days.

Too similar for coincidence, I would think.

Yesterday in Pullman:

Spokane bomb squad defuses device in Pullman

Officers with the Pullman Police Department responded this morning to the City Playfields after reports suggested a possible explosive was found near a city walking path. The call came in at 8:05 a.m. this morning, an apparent “pipe bomb like” device was seen next to electrical panels on the west side of the playfields, near 830 SE South Street, adjacent to a walking path. Pullman Officers closed off the area and waited for the Spokane Explosive Unit to respond. The disposal unit arrived at approximately 10:10 a.m. and rendered the device “safe.” According to a Pullman Police release, evidence was found on scene to suggest there was an attempt to light the device’s fuse. It will now be moved to the crime lab for further analysis. This is an ongoing investigation, our story will be updated as more information becomes available. No word yet on possible suspects or the scale of the device.

And last week in Moscow:

Spokane Bomb Squad destroys suspicious device in Moscow

Moscow police responded to a report of a suspicious device believed to be an explosive at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Robinson Mobile Home Court.
The Spokane Bomb Squad arrived on scene at about 5:30 p.m. and destroyed the device, which appeared to be a pipe bomb.
