“Health care advocates”

NewImageMy letter to the editor ran in Wednesday’s Spokesman-Review

Two recent Spokesman-Review articles by Betsy Russell (March 21 and March 16) start their stories with “Health care advocates rallied in the state Capitol today …” and “Health care advocates are decrying the House’s move …

I’m a health care advocate. I don’t know anyone who is not.

But what Betsy means is “government health care advocates,” “socialized medicine health care advocates,” or “Obamacare advocates.”

For clarity in the future, I recommend modifiers like “government” or “socialized” or “Obamacare” to qualify your use of the phrase “health care advocates.”

Unless the Spokesman-Review’s position is that only government health care is truly health care.
